Picasso Museum Málaga Tickets (2026)

The museum sells a single full-access ticket at $15.15 (€13), $12.82 (€11) reduced, which covers the permanent hang, whichever temporary exhibitions are on, the archaeological site under the new wing and the audio guide, which is a web app on your own phone with no download. There is no permanent-only price and no temporary-only price on the visit page we read, so the answer to 'how much is the Picasso Museum without the exhibition' is that the museum does not sell that. The shop issues a timed ticket. The reseller card describes the slot as carrying a 15-minute margin and the ticket as valid for that day. The museum's own advice is 'buy online to make sure you get your ticket', which is the closest it comes to a sell-out warning. It publishes no capacity figure and no statement on same-day availability.

What the official shop does not offer, on the pages we read, is a refund. That is the whole case for the reseller timed ticket, which was listed at $15.12 with free cancellation up to 24 hours before. On a trip whose museum day depends on the weather at the Caminito del Rey or a ship's schedule at the cruise port, the three cents are irrelevant and the cancellation is not.

Buying at the Desk

The desk sells the same ticket at the same price, so there is no online discount and no online surcharge, which is the opposite of the Casa Natal, where every online ticket carries €0.30 of processing. On a weekday morning outside the summer the desk is the simplest route. On a Sunday afternoon, a public holiday or any day in July and August the queue on Calle San Agustín is the reason to have the e-ticket on your phone.

The last entry is 30 minutes before closing in every season, and a ticket bought at the desk at 18:35 in October is not a visit.

The museum's reduced fare of $12.82 (€11) applies to the categories it lists on the visit page, and its free list is longer than most visitors expect: children under 17, people with disabilities and one companion, job seekers, students of the University of Málaga, teachers, ICOM members and accredited journalists. Anyone in the free list still needs a ticket issued at the desk with the document shown.

The window opens at 17:00 from March to June and in September and October, at 18:00 in July and August and at 16:00 from November to February, and in each case runs to closing. Last entry is still 30 minutes before closing, so the usable free window is ninety minutes, not two hours, and a queue that has formed before the hour uses some of that. The Ayuntamiento's three museums, the Casa Natal, the Centre Pompidou and the Russian Museum Collection, use a fixed 16:00 to 20:00 all year, and the Carmen Thyssen opens free from 16:00 too.

The Alcazaba is free from 14:00. In winter all of them line up in one afternoon. In summer the Picasso window starts two hours after the others.

Is the Free Sunday Worth the Queue?

Our observation, not a museum figure: the Sunday queue on Calle San Agustín is the longest of the week and moves at the pace of the bag check, and the rooms in the free window hold more people than at any paid hour. For a visitor whose only day is Sunday it is a real saving of $15.15 (€13) a head. For anyone with a weekday, the 10:00 slot with the rooms half empty is the better use of the same building.

The museum sells two guided formats. An educator-led visit of 50 minutes for a group of up to 20 costs $81.60 (€70) in Spanish or $99.00 (€85) in English or French, plus the tickets, booked through [email protected]. A 30-minute walk-in visit for up to six people costs $29.10 (€25) in Spanish or $35.00 (€30) in English or French, plus the tickets, subject to availability at the desk.

For a party of two in English that is $99.00 plus two tickets for 50 minutes, or $35.00 plus two tickets for half an hour.

The Verdict

For two people the 90-minute platform tour is cheaper than the museum's 50-minute English visit and runs longer. The museum's format only wins for a group of ten or more, where $99.00 (€85) spread across the party beats $40.72 a head. For a single visitor the museum's 30-minute walk-in at $35.00 (€30) plus a ticket is the cheapest live guide in the building, if the desk has one free.

Book the platform language carefully: the operator states it does not refund a wrong-language booking and treats latecomers as no-shows.

There is no combined ticket between the Museo Picasso Málaga and the Casa Natal Picasso on either official site, because they belong to different operators: the palace to the Junta de Andalucía and the Ruiz-Picasso foundation, the birthplace to the Ayuntamiento. The Ayuntamiento's own multi-museum ticket, the Bono Arte Xperience at $19.23 (€16.50) full or $11.07 (€9.50) reduced, covers the Casa Natal, the Centre Pompidou and the Russian Museum Collection for a week and does not include this museum. Nor is there a Picasso and Alcazaba ticket. The facts pack checked both official shops and found none.

The only bundle that puts this museum with another timed building is the three-hour old town walk, which carries both the Cathedral and the museum admissions, $26.80 (€23) bought direct, plus two guides. A visitor doing the museum and the birthplace on the same day pays $15.15 (€13) here and $3.50 (€3) there, $18.65 in total, or nothing on a winter Sunday afternoon done in the right order: birthplace at 16:00, palace at 16:00 too in winter, so pick the one with the shorter queue first. Casa Natal Picasso has the second museum's hours and its own reseller cards.

The museum publishes no sell-out calendar and no capacity, and the reseller card's reviewers report that pre-booked holders got in on days when walk-ups were turned away, which is the only evidence either way that the pages carry. On a weekday outside the school holidays the desk sells same-day tickets without drama. The days that fill are the free Sundays, the four free dates, Semana Santa (29 March to 5 April 2026), the Feria week of 15 to 22 August 2026 and cruise mornings, when three ships can put several thousand people into the centre at once.

If your date shows nothing on the reseller calendar, try the museum's own shop, which sells from a separate allocation. If both are gone, the guided tours hold their own slots and often have space when the plain ticket does not. If all three fail, the Casa Natal has no timed entry at all, the Carmen Thyssen is five minutes away and the Museo de Málaga is free for EU citizens and open until 21:00 Tuesday to Saturday. The desk will sell you a ticket at 16:00, and you will have paid $15.15 (€13) for something free two hours later. - Booking a Spanish-language tour to get a slot. The operator of the 90-minute tour does not refund a wrong-language booking and requires a high level of Spanish for the Spanish departure. - Missing the audio-guide QR code. It is scanned at the entrance and, by the reseller card's warning, not repeated inside. The guide is the only way to follow a hang that puts 1905 and 1960 on the same wall. - Trusting the exhibition names on a reseller card. They are stale on every card we read. Hold the 10:00 slot, give the palace ninety minutes, and walk the four minutes to the birthplace for the afternoon with $18.65 spent between the two. On a Sunday, reverse the money: birthplace at 16:00 free, palace in its free window, and the Alcazaba free from 14:00 before either.
